About Us
East New Market is pleasantly situated in the center of Dorchester County on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The town's location places it in the midst of a rich farming area and yields large crops of grains and vegetables.

Located approximately 15 miles northeast of Cambridge, with State Highway Routes 14 and 16 intersecting the town, East New Market has long been known as the "cross roads".

The original town boundaries defined the East New Market Historical District. It was the first town to receive a designation by the State of Maryland as a Historic District in Dorchester County, and is registered as a National Historic District. The town was entered in the National Register of Historic Places in October 1975.

Today East New Market consists of many of the early residences that were constructed by the original families who settled in the area. East New Market's population, as of the 2000 census, was 167, but in 2001 the town, through annexation, acquired additional land mass and at the present time the population is approximately 385. Located at 38.59910 N and 75.92387 W, the town is located in District 2 of the county subdivision known as "East New Market", the zip code being 21631 and the area code of "410".
